Mayu is passionate about sharing her knowledges of creating ensemble work, movement techniques (Suzuki Method and Viewpoints Training) and developing original work with Drama Stage 6 Preliminary and HSC Courses, University and Advanced diploma levels, as well as to lead workshop at theatres and arts & community organisations. Mayu has worked internationally as an actor and theatre educator in New York, Chicago, Tokyo and Sydney. Her extensive training covers a wide range of acting techniques including Practical Aesthetics, Alexander Techniques, Yoga, Martial arts, Laban, The Suzuki method of acting, Viewpoints and Kristin Linklater. Mayu has trained extensively with the SITI company in New York. A graduate of the David Mumet’s Atlantic Acting Conservatory and holds Bachelor of Arts at UNSW majoring in Theatre Performance and Film Making.
Mayu has taught and directed actors and students of all ages in various institutions including Acting Conservatory, Theatre Companies, Youth Theatre Companies and High school programs. She recently made her Australian television debut, performing a lead role in the “Top Knot Detective” on SBS. Stage credits include: Love and Honor and Pity and Pride and Compassion and Sacrifice, original stage adaptation of Nam Lee’s award winning book, The Boat directed by Priscilla Jackman (NIDA), The Hour We Knew Nothing of Each Other directed by Jennifer Hagan (NIDA), Erth’s Dinosaur Zoo Japan and Doha Tour (ERTH Visual & Physical Inc.), Fallen (Mozawa) in Chicago, Love and Information (Atlantic Theatre Company) in NYC, and One woman show Morgan O-Yuki: Geisha of Gilded Age (Shakespeare&Company) in MA.
