Cultural Consultant Services

Mayu is currently a Japanese cultural consultant on Opera Australia’s Madam Butterfly. She has been working as a translator and writer for bilingual plays internationally and on international co-productions with creatives from diverse backgrounds. Having a cultural consultant early on in the production is crucial because creatives and writers are able to discuss potential reflags and clarify the intention behind story choices.

Visual Artists

Mayu comes from a long line of puppet-makers in Tokyo and is a mixed media artist and a theatre-maker. She is passionate about providing a safe space for children to express their creativity and be themselves. For Mayu, she uses art as a way to tell stories.  She attended drawing classes for 11 years at a small but absolutely magical painting studio in heart of Tokyo. She is also a creative associate at Monkeybaa Theatre. Mayu teaches children at the Art Studio in Maroubra. She wishes to provide those who attend the studio with a sense of play and active use of their imaginations. Mayu has skills in many different art forms including, watercolours, clay sculpting, oil, acrylic and many others.
